The New York Yankees were able to capitalize on a solid outing from Luis Severino and take the series from Boston.

The New York Yankees unleashed an offensive barrage onto the Boston Red Sox on Sunday night, defeating them by a large margin.
New York would first get to Chris Sale in the bottom of the third with a solo home run by Chase Headley, which would be just the beginning of an offensive outburst.
The following inning, Matt Holliday and Todd Frazier would go back-to-back off the Boston left-hander and ignite a spark in the Yankees lineup.
Fast forward to the bottom of the sixth and that is when we really saw the offense blast off. A three-run double from Starlin Castro as well as a two-run homer from Aaron Judge gave New York a 9-1 lead.
Judge’s home run could be a turning point for the struggling slugger, it traveled an impressive distance of 469 feet and had an exit velocity of 118 m.p.h.
On the pitching side, Luis Severino held down the fort with yet another miraculous outing.
The right-hander gave the Yankees six impressive innings where he only surrendered two hits and no earned runs, along with nine strikeouts.
Severino became the first American League pitcher 23 or younger to throw 200 strikeouts in a season since Felix Hernandez did it back in 2009.
A combination of Tommy Kahnle, Chasen Shreve and Giovanny Gallegos would wrap up the game for New York and add another tally to the win column.

Yankees designated hitter Matt Holliday has returned from the disabled list with a vengeance this weekend, going on an absolute tear.
The right-handed slugger took Chris Sale deep in the fourth inning of Sunday night’s matchup to add-on to the powerful display he showcased on Saturday night.
If Holliday is healthy and fully back in form, he could be a vital piece in the Yankees lineup as they compete down the stretch for a playoff spot.

On Monday afternoon, the Yankees will begin a series with the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards.
Left-hander Jordan Montgomery will take the bump for New York and will look to rebound from a tough outing last time around against the Cleveland Indians.
In three starts this season against the Orioles, Montgomery is 1-1 with a 3.31 ERA and 20 strikeouts.
Pitching for the O’s will be right-hander Dylan Bundy, who is coming off his first career complete game.
