CC Sabathia called out the Red Sox during the New York Yankees 6-2 victory, triggering Red Sox legend Jim Rice against the veteran southpaw.

CC Sabathia delivered a huge start in the New York Yankees‘ series opener against the Boston Red Sox, going six strong innings and allowing only one earned run. Sabathia had a fire under his belt since the first inning and cameras caught him yelling into the Red Sox dugout after ending the first inning.

Sabathia would keep that fire lit under him through out his start, and carry it into his post game interview. The Red Sox tried to bunt numerous times on the aging left, to which the 37-year-old didn’t like.

Fighting words right there. Sabathia has been a part of the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry for a while, and his words show it:

But Sabathia’s reactions caught the attention of former Red Sox legend turned analyst Jim Rice. In NESN’s postgame show, Rice went off on Sabathia, pointing to his weight.

Rice claims to be a big fan of bunting, despite having only five career sacrifice bunts, none during the last 10 years of his career. The Yankees and Red Sox continue their series tonight at 7:05 pm on YES Network.
