When Kristaps Porzingis skipped his exit interview for the 2016-2017 season, it was credited to issues with former President Phil Jackson. Now, new data has surfaced to say otherwise.
Longtime NBA reporter Peter Vecsey published a report on the finer details of Porzingis’ frustrations.
According to Vecsey, Hornacek and the Latvian forward had a terrible relationship last year, culminating in a volatile fashion.
The final straw and likely focal point for Kristaps bitterness? Hornacek reportedly instructed center Willy Hernangomez to tell Porzingis to “stop playing like a pu**sy.”
I’ve heard there’s a method to the madness, but it’s hard to see any good coming out of that game plan. With Jeff Hornacek still in the picture, Vecsey also reports that the two are back on speaking terms. Whether through text, or more playing telephone through Hernangomez.
Fortunately, there is more positive news on the Porzingis front.
The third year forward will be featured as the cover star for the My NBA “2K18,” a mobile app connected to the console game.
It seems while the New York Knicks continue to sink as a franchise, Porzingis continues to rise in the world of the NBA.
One more Knicks player made headlines this week, as he is on his way out the door. The New York Post reports that point guard Sasha Vujacic will be following Jackson’s footsteps out of Madison Square Garden.
Where to? Vujacic will be playing as a guard for Fiat Torino of the Italian League. The guard played two seasons for New York, averaging 3.9 points and 1.3 assists per game.
