New York Rangers first round draft pick Lias Andersson continues to have an outstanding summer.

Center Lias Andersson seems determined to make the New York Rangers out of training camp as he continues to have a great summer of hockey. On Thursday, he recorded four shots on goals, two blocked shots and won seven out of 14 faceoffs in 13:12 minutes of ice time as his Frolunda team won 5-4. The Rangers should be excited to see Andersson doing well on faceoffs, something they’ve struggled with in recent memory.

Norway Here We Come

Henrik Lundqvist flew out to Norway to meet up with his friend and teammate Mats Zuccarello as they announced a charity hockey game next August for Zuccarello’s Right To Play Event. The two Rangers hope to be able to get other NHL players to participate in the game. Zuccarello is the Ambassador for Right to Play and has held charity games over the past few years.

Last NHL Goalie To Play Without A Mask

Kevin Hunter of the Hockey Writers wrote a nice piece a few years back on Rangers goalie Lorne “Gump” Worsley. In 1952, he signed with the New York Rangers, playing 50 games with a 3.09 goals-against-average as he went on to win the Calder Trophy as NHL Rookie of the Year. He was the last NHL goalie not to wear a mask. “My face is my mask,” Worsley had said.
