Everyone is hyped up for the most anticipated fight in history. No, I’m not talking about the showdown in Las Vegas.

C̶o̶n̶o̶r̶ ̶M̶c̶G̶r̶e̶g̶o̶r̶ ̶v̶s̶ ̶F̶l̶o̶y̶d̶ ̶M̶a̶y̶w̶e̶a̶t̶h̶e̶r̶

The real fight everyone will be waiting for is actually over 2,200 miles away from the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight. I’m talking, of course, about the never-ending feud between New York Jets mercurial star Sheldon Richardson and current New York Giants star Brandon Marshall.

The disagreements between these two players when they were on the same team have been well documented, and things have escalated even further since Marshall signed with the Giants.

Jets head coach Todd Bowles threatened to leave a press conference earlier this summer when he was asked about the feud between the two players.

Here’s the skinny. Marshall was a diva who apparently didn’t want to play on a team that was destined for a top-five pick. Which begs the question, was Marshall just a part of a dumpster fire last year which contributed to his poor play? Or is he reaching that hump as an older player and losing some of his skills?

I think it was a mix of both.

Bowles is going to try to keep them apart. We won’t see any Rex Ryan stuff like Quinton Coples starting at corner and pressing an opposing wide receiver. What we will see, however, is a highly-motivated and a highly-dedicated Richardson in 2017.

He’s in a contract year. He wants to get paid and he’s auditioning for 31 other teams this season. Although getting back to the present against Brandon Marshall, it should be a fun storyline to keep an eye on.

Also, a random fun fact for those who care: the Jets and Giants have played against each other in the preseason every year since 1969. The Giants edged the Jets last season 21-20 and currently hold the Snoopy Bowl crown.
