New York Knicks head coach Jeff Hornacek reportedly watched one of Carmelo Anthony’s famous pickup basketball games.

Could the New York Knicks be trying to convince Carmelo Anthony to stay? Head coach Jeff Hornacek might be.

According to ESPN’s Ian Begley reports that Hornacek attended a pickup game in Manhattan this week featuring Anthony and other NBA players. Despite Anthony’s seemingly firm intentions to leave New York, he’s apparently still socializing with his coach.

The ten-time All-Star played an incredible pickup game that co-starred LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Other NBA players like J.R. Smith, Lance Thomas, Enes Kanter, and Marshall Plumlee got together to play with Hoodie Melo.

Per Begley, the Knicks want to move Melo and Melo wants to go but there hasn’t been a “suitable deal” found yet. It’s hard to imagine anything new coming up for the Houston Rockets. Hornacek may have been hanging out with Anthony, but that doesn’t mean he’s staying.

It’s still strange to see Hornacek at Melo’s gym. There were reports that the two didn’t get along last year.

Elite Sports NY’s Chip Murphy writes that the Knicks showed foresight in passing on a Kyrie Irving for Kristaps Porzingis trade. It’s a rare occurrence.
