It was announced yesterday that both Matt Holliday and Starlin Castro would start their assignments today.
Holliday originally went on the disabled list for a left lumbar strain while Castro has been having nagging hamstring issues that affected his play.
But they’re ready to come back, just when the Yankees are in the thick of the playoff hunt.
Another fellow rehaber, Greg Bird, showed some progress last night in Scranton, where he laced an RBI single and followed that up with another single in the seventh inning.

That’s quite the sentiment from the guy who slugged home runs like it was going out of style. Rodriguez may not be playing but at least he’s watching these young guys do their thing.
And he probably sees himself as a part of their success. After all, his “retirement” was the reason these two got their big shot in the big leagues.
