For the fourth straight night, the New York Yankees and New York Mets squared off. For the fourth straight night, the Yankees won.

In the final Subway Series matchup of 2017, the New York Yankees got on the board early when Gary Sánchez blasted a three-run shot off Steven Matz (2-7) to left-center field.

Following two scoreless frames from Matz, the Yankees offense heated up again in the fourth. Yankees starter Luis Severino (10-5) picked up his first career hit — singling off Matz — which loaded the bases for Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner.

Gardner then doubled in Tyler Austin and Ronald Torreyes and put the Yankees up 5-0.

Later in the inning, Sánchez continued his incredible night by singling in Severino and Garnder, increasing the Yankees lead to a whopping 7-0.

However, the Mets weren’t done just yet. The offense started producing in the seventh inning when Matt Reynolds singled in Travis d’Arnaud, cutting the Yankees lead to six.

When the game seemed all but over, Curtis Granderson continued to do what he had been doing all year: mash in the clutch.

After Yankees reliever Bryan Mitchell loaded up the bases, Granderson connected on a 403-foot grand slam, scoring d’Arnaud, Reynolds and Brandon Nimmo and cutting the Yankees lead to two in the process.

Unfortunately for the Mets, Dellin Betances shut down all hopes for a miracle comeback and picked up his eighth save of the year.

Sánchez finished Thursday night’s game going 2-4 with a home run and five RBI.

Matz’ struggled carried into Thursday night’s tilt where he lasted just 3.1 innings, allowing seven hits, seven runs (six earned) and two walks while striking out four.

The Yankees will take their talents up north to face the Boston Red Sox, with the hopes that they can cut in their rivals’ AL East lead. The Mets will head to Miami to take on the awe-inspiring Giancarlo Stanton and the Marlins.
