New York Mets infielder Jose Reyes goes on the 10-day disabled list with an oblique injury. Meanwhile, Wilmer Flores’s status is unknown.
The New York Mets put Jose Reyes on the 10-day disabled list before Thursday’s game against the New York Yankees due to a left oblique strain.
Reyes was scratched from Wednesday’s game against the Yankees due to the injury. The infielder doesn’t think that the injury is serious.
“It’s better to take a few days (off) than miss the rest of the season,” he told Ari Gilberg, Kristie Ackert and Justin Tasch of the New York Daily News.
The Mets have recalled Matt Reynolds and Gavin Cecchini from Triple-A Las Vegas. Reynolds is hitting .320 with four home runs in Triple-A and has hit .204 with one home run in the majors this year. Reynolds will bat eighth tonight against the Yankees and play third base.
No decision has been made yet on Wilmer Flores. Flores was scratched from Wednesday’s game because of a sore rib. He will work out before tonight’s game and see how he feels. If he remains active then the Mets will have to demote a player.
Cecchini will most likely play if Flores isn’t able to.
