Following a come-from-behind win by the New York Yankees on Monday night, they’re back at it again against the Mets at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday.
The New York Yankees spread the news on Monday night, but the Mets will continue their attempt at playing spoiler in game two of four in this year’s crosstown rivalry.Jacob deGrom will get the ball for the Amazins, making it an interesting pitching duel due up in the Bronx as the Yankees counter with recently-acquired Sonny Gray.
Gray is off to a nice start with his new team by holding opponents to a .182/.294/.227 slash line in his first two starts, but hasn’t gotten a single run of run support. Thus, he’s 0-2 as a Yankee and might be handed his third unless the offense can get to another one of baseball’s hottest starting pitchers as of late.
deGrom is 9-2 with a 1.82 ERA (16 earned runs in 79.1
innings) and 85 strikeouts in his last 11 starts. DeGrom tied the
single-season franchise record for wins in consecutive starts with eight from June 12-July 24 and is tied for sixth in the majors
with 13 wins.
Helping the Mets’ best starter’s stock tonight is his ability to be a showstopper. In 16 starts following a loss, the righty is 10-3 and tied him with Jose Urena (10-5 in 18 starts) for the most wins following a team loss for any starting pitcher this season.

It seems as though Cespedes is primed to go on a seemingly-unstoppable hot streak at the dish. The 31-year-old hit a solo home run in the third inning of Monday night’s game giving him a home run in three straight games for the fourth time in his career.
