Kyrie Irving, 25, is their best young and he wants out. For some reason, the guy doesn’t want to play with LeBron James anymore. He wants his team, and it sounds like the Cavs are preparing to move on by pairing James with another youngster.
Per Woj, the chance of any deal depends on Cleveland’s willingness to take on Joakim Noah’s horrible contract. Multiple NBA teams question how emphatic the “no” on Porzingis will stay due to the distance between the unicorn and the organization.
Even so, it’s hard to imagine this Knicks regime trading Porzingis. Phil Jackson might’ve been down for it, but not this group.
Ian Begley of ESPN reports that Porzingis is a “non-starter” for the Knicks in an Irving trade.
It’s clear that Carmelo Anthony has no intention of going anywhere but Houston in a trade. If the Knicks want Kyrie, Porzingis will be the only option.
That’s too high a price to pay.
