Let’s take some time to take a breath, calm down and see what Derek Jeter has done, just not with the New York Yankees.

Did you hear the news? If you didn’t, are you living under a rock? The New York Yankees former shortstop now has a new favorite team.

It was announced yesterday that the Miami Marlins will now be in the hands of the reliable shortstop.

That’s right, we’ll have to get used to seeing Derek Jeter in Miami. The franchise will be sold for $1.2 billion to a group consisting of Jeter and New York businessman Bruce Sherman.

Michael Jordan himself is also reported to be one of the investors, according to USA Today.

Now that Jeter is a co-owner of a franchise of his own, what will his first move be? CBS sports has an idea.

Perfect.

While we can fawn over the success of the past, we can also look at the excitement that is to come in the future. That excitement comes in the form of No. 4 prospect in the system, Estevan Florial.

The Yankees may not be hitting bombs but Florial sure is. Now we can see why they didn’t want to include him in any trade packages.

This bomb to right field marked his first home run with the Single-A Tampa Yankees, with hopefully many more to come.

And now to the injury portion of the Buzz. It was announced yesterday by the PR department that the Yankees would be placing southpaw CC Sabathia on the 10-day DL and moving a few others to accommodate.

Jordan Montgomery, who was just sent down, will be likely making the spot start in Sabathia’s place in a Sunday night showdown against the Red Sox.

That’s what happens in baseball…no matter who gets sent down, there’s always a chance they’ll be right back up in the majors.

So, there you have it! Following up a HUGE victory over the Red Sox, this is just what we needed. Now, time to face Drew Pomeranz and pull out another victory.
