Following an oblique injury for top New York Yankees outfield prospect Clint Frazier, the team has placed him on the 10-day disabled list.
The New York Yankees have announced that they have placed top outfield prospect Clint Frazier on the 10-day disabled list (retro to 8/9) with a left oblique strain and reinstated outfielder Aaron Hicks.
Frazier suffered the injury during the batting practice prior to Wednesday night’s 11-5 win over the Blue Jays. The 22-year-old was scratched from the lineup.
He went 7-for-42 (.167) with a .556 OPS in the 10 games before going down. Overall, Frazier registered a slash line of .243/.274/.477 and 15 extra-base hits in his first 28 games as a Major Leaguer.
Taking his spot on the 25-man roster will be Aaron Hicks, who was rehabbing in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Double-A Trenton. The switch-hitter has been out of action since June 25 after going down with an oblique injury against the Texas Rangers. He was slashing .290/.398/.515 with 10 home runs and 37 RBIs — both career-highs.
The 27-year-old went 6-for-16 (.375) with two doubles and a triple with the RailRiders before going 2-for-8 (.250) with the Thunder.
