In the middle of an American League East battle, the New York Yankees have received updates on some of their injured kids in the minors.

Let’s start off with some good news on this Thursday morning. The New York Yankees are finally getting some progress updates on their injured boys.

That’s right, Aaron Hicks, Greg Bird and Starlin Castro are making progress and look to join the Yankees as soon as they possibly can. It looks like Bird and Hicks already have their home run trots up to par.

While Hicks is launching home runs in actual games, Greg Bird is still getting his practice in, putting on a show in batting practice today at Rogers Centre.

With that being said, Joe Girardi stated that Aaron Hicks is expected back with the Yankees on Friday, while both Bird and Castro are looking to start their respective rehab assignments very soon.

Going along with the injury theme, CC Sabathia’s MRI came back clean, according to Girardi and reported by Brandon Kuty of NJ.com.

But wait, there’s more! Clint Frazier was a late scratch from tonight’s lineup. He was reported to have oblique tightness. Guess the Yankees didn’t miss him that much, as they pulled out a much-needed victory north of the border.

Enough with the injuries! Now, let’s look at the Player’s Weekend jerseys that the Yankees released yesterday afternoon.

For this weekend, players have the option to sport nicknames on the back of their jerseys, likely attracting the game to some younger fans.

I don’t know about you, but I’m certainly looking forward to seeing these nicknames in person. Most hilarious has to go to Aaron Hicks for his subtle nod to Key and Peele.

Perhaps the most interesting one is Brett Gardner’s. Given everything he has done for the team, all the nicknames he’s compiled, he chooses the name he was born with.

Hey, to each their own.

As silly as it is, it will be fun watching a team consisting of Red Thunder, All Rise and The Missile take the field from Aug. 25-27.

Keep smiling, Yankees fans. The sun is shining, the balls are flying and the Yankees are winning again! I could definitely get used to this.
