Foward Stephen Gionta decided to return to Brooklyn as he inked a one-year pact with the New York Islanders.

The New York Islanders agreed to a contract with right wing Stephen Gionta on Tuesday.

Gionta agreed to a one-year, two–way contract with the club. The deal is worth $650,000 if Gionta plays with the Islanders and it’s worth $225,000 if he goes to the AHL, according to Arthur Staple of Newsday.

Gionta played in 26 games for the Islanders last season, recording one goal and five assists. The right wing also played with the Islanders AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, where he scored one goal and had two assists in seven games.

Over parts of seven years in the NHL, Gionta has scored 16 goals, 40 assists, and 56 points. He has three goals, four assists, and seven points in 24 playoff games, all with the New Jersey Devils in the 2011-12 season.
