Ben McAdoo becomes the parent of the New York Giants by giving players a reward for good behavior during the offseason.
New York Giants coach Ben McAdoo rewarded his players for staying “off the ticker” on Thursday.
As it seems to have worked for McAdoo and his squad, maybe it’s time the Dallas Cowboys should adopt the same policy?
During the offseason, the majority of Giants players didn’t get into trouble and therefore didn’t have their names appear of the ticker at the bottom of tv screens. As a reward for staying out of trouble McAdoo gave each of his players a pair of Air Jordan 4 sneakers valued at $170, according to Dan Duggan of NJ.com.
Of course, the players received the blue and white version of the shoes to represent their own team colors.
“We did what we were supposed to do,” Giants defensive tackle Jay Bromley told Duggan in his NJ.com article and interview. “We stayed off the ticker. We kept the main thing the main thing, as Coach McAdoo likes to say. And we got rewarded for it, like any parent does. When your children do what they’re supposed to do, they get rewarded for it.”
Bromley added in his interview with Duggan, “Coach McAdoo is fly sometimes. He has some J’s (Jordans) on so he decided to show us some love and get us all a pair of J’s. I didn’t have those yet, so I’m definitely grateful for it and look forward to rocking them.”
While the Giants behaved during the offseason, they haven’t been behaving lately. On Thursday Damon Harrison and Bobby Hart were involved in a fight at the team’s training camp. Janoris Jenkins and Eric Pinkins have also gotten into a fight during training camp.
So maybe the players who haven’t been in a fight at the end of training camp should get the next reward? Just an idea, McAdoo!
