Saturday marked Day 2 of practice at New York Giants training camp. While there was a little more contact between the defensive and offensive linemen, the day was highlighted by the Giants receivers and defensive backs.

During individual drills, the Giants receivers caught almost every pass that was thrown to them by Eli Manning, Josh Johnson, Davis Webb, and Geno Smith.

During the drills, Odell Beckham Jr and Brandon Marshall made some nice over the shoulder catches, something that they would execute to perfection later on in practice.

On the first play of 11-on-11 drills, Beckham scored on a 50-yard touchdown. It was an excellent route as OBJ faked a corner route and ran a deep post route and was wide open.

Beckham would make several athletic catches during practice, and afterward, a few of his teammates gave him high praise.

Marshall spoke at the podium after practice said that Beckham is obviously the best player in the NFL, and at 24 years old he’s a global icon.

Cornerback Janoris Jenkins also talked up his teammate after the session was over. When asked if he thinks he’s the best player in the NFL, he replied: “In my opinion he is.”

Jenkins also made a spectacular play during practice as he intercepted Manning has he was trying to connect with Sterling Shepard deep down the left sideline. Jenkins jumped and caught the ball at its highest point and ran it back down the sideline.  A small melee occurred between the offense and defense after the play was over.

Later in practice, Eli Apple made a nice play breaking up a slant pass that was intended for Shepard.

The receivers and DBs going at it in practice have been the most intriguing battles to watch. It will be interesting to see which unit gets the upper hand as camp progresses.
