Amed Rosario, the New York Mets prized shortstop prospect, could be on his way to the big leagues in a matter of days.

According to FanRag Sports’ Jon Heyman, Mets prospect Amed Rosario could be called up soon, perhaps right as the calendar flips from July to August.

There is nothing more reassuring for Mets fans than hearing that Rosario is close to being called up to a team he should have been playing for months ago.

Earlier today, MLB Pipeline moved Rosario up to the No. 2 spot on its Midseason Top 100 Prospect list. He began the season as baseball’s fifth-best prospect.

Even current shortstop Jose Reyes, who stole his 500th career base last night, knows that Rosario’s arrival is impending. Recently, he told SportsNet New York’s Steve Gelbs that Rosario is “the future of this organization.”

Rosario has been an absolute beast for the Triple-A Las Vegas 51’s this season. Through 88 games, Rosario is hitting a phenomenal .329 with 59 runs scored, seven home runs, 55 RBI and 17 stolen bases.
