The New York Knicks signed second-round pick Damyean Dotson to a three-year deal. Dotson was a star during summer league play.
Damyean Dotson is officially under contract. The New York Knicks selected the Houston swingman with the 44th overall pick in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft.
According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, the contract is for three seasons with two of them being fully guaranteed.
The 23-year-old was the best player on New York’s summer league team, showing off the shooting stroke he displayed while in college. He shot 44.1 percent from three-point range at Houston last season on 7.7 attempts per game.
Dotson shot 48 percent from three-point range on five attempts per game in summer league. This includes an impressive summer league finale where he scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds against Orlando.
The Knicks let Justin Holiday walk in free agency presumably with the idea that Dotson would take over those minutes and be able to fill Holiday’s production. They have high hopes for him.
Dotson projects as a potential three-and-D star. Standing at 6-foot-7, he’s able to play and guard multiple positions. He’s a prospect to watch in 2017-18.
