Brooklyn Nets forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson was in the gym late on Sunday expanding his skill set.

I’m an unabashed Rondae Hollis-Jefferson stan. He’s energetic and athletic and has shown flashes of being an NBA All-Defensive caliber player. Unfortunately, that proficiency hasn’t yet translated to the offensive end.

Hoping to find a remedy for that, Hollis-Jefferson took a video of himself at the Brooklyn Nets practice facility sharpening his handle with a combination of stationary and combo dribbles (video above).

I don’t get worked up seeing basketball players working out. What makes me take notice is if they’re doing things we haven’t seen in-game consistently. The 22-year-old struggles mightily whenever he has the rock, so this is encouraging.

He even bucketed a few mid-range jumpers that came off the bounce, which is another part of his game that’s lacking severely. In the coming years, RHJ has the chance to be a serviceable offensive player — and that would mean I can finally stop tweeting about his broken jump shot.

I wish we’d wake up tomorrow with Hollis-Jefferson having Kyrie Irving levels of basketball wizardry, but that’s a pipe dream. (I’m going to keep my fingers crossed, though.)
