Top New York Yankees third base prospect Miguel Andujar was placed on the temporarily inactive list on Friday.

Miguel Andujar has been kept out of the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders’ lineup for two games and while many assume the New York Yankees are brewing a trade, the top third base prospect is taking some family time.

The 22-year-old went back to New York to be with his girlfriend, who is, according to RailRiders manager Al Pedrique, expecting a baby.

With that, the RailRiders have announced that Andujar has been placed on the temporarily inactive list. The Yankees’ eighth-best prospect by MLB Pipeline was slashing .315/.354/.528 with four homers in 23 games for SWB prior to this family matter.

Other Prospect News:

  • According to Mathew Kardos of Pinstriped Prospects, the Yankees traded Double-A pitcher Dillon McNamara to the San Francisco Giants on Friday night for an undisclosed return. New York’s 27th round pick of the 2013 MLB June Amateur Draft posted a 2.79 ERA across five seasons (136 games) in the organization including a stellar stint in Tampa this year in which he surrendered just three earned runs over 23 innings.

  • Trenton pitcher Branden Pinder will be released by the Yankees, according to Pinstriped Prospects. This comes after he was placed on the temporarily inactive list. The 28-year-old made one appearance for the Yankees last season before needing Tommy John surgery and has pitched in just eight games in 2017 — three for Trenton, five for Staten Island.
