According to Ian Begley of ESPN, the Knicks will consider giving up Carmelo Anthony for Kyrie Irving. Kristaps Porzingis, not so much.

The New York Knicks are interested in a trade for Cavs star Kyrie Irving. They could use the shockingly available Irving as an opportunity to get rid of their superstar, Carmelo Anthony.

ESPN’s Ian Begley reports that some within the organization are willing to consider giving up Anthony, 33, in a trade for the 25-year-old point guard. They’d also be willing to consider giving up first-round picks in a deal for the All-Star. However, New York would not be willing to part with Kristaps Porzingis.

That’s right; the unicorn isn’t on the table. Don’t worry about that one Knicks fans.

Irving reportedly asked Cleveland for a trade in a meeting last week. Apparently, he doesn’t want to play with LeBron James anymore. He wants to be the man.

If he came home to New York (kind of, dude is from New Jersey) Kyrie would be treated like a King. No pun intended.

New York needs to move quickly if they want Kyrie and there will probably be better trade packages out there. However, Oklahoma City got Paul George for Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis. Anything can happen in the NBA.
