All the feel-good feelings the New York Mets had fans reveling in since the All-Star break disappeared in the first inning Sunday.

All-Stars D.J. LeMahieu and Nolan Arenado both went 4-for-6 for Colorado, Steven Matz couldn’t get out of the second inning and the Rockies crushed the Mets 13-4, keeping the home team from sweeping their three-game series.

The Rockies did all the damage they’d need early, putting four runs on the board in the first inning and three more in the second, courtesy of a three-run blast by Arenado.

Mark Reynolds followed that blast up with a single that would drive Matz from the game. His final line: 1 IP, 9 H, 7 ER, 1 BB, 2K.

By the time the Mets got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning, courtesy of a solo-shot off the bat of Lucas Duda, the Rockies had built up a 9-1 lead.

While the Mets continued to chip away at Colorado’s lead courtesy of a two-run home run by Asdrubal Cabrera in the bottom of the fifth and a seventh inning sac fly by Jose Reyes, they never got closer than three runs.

If that wasn’t embarrassing enough, Charlie Blackmon wound up with a two-run, inside-the-park home run in the top of the seventh inning.

While you can’t necessarily blame Curtis Granderson for his initial reaction—he clearly thought it was a home run—that he slowly jogged after the ball while Blackmon was sprinting around the bases and make a lackadaisical throw is inexcusable. You simply can’t be that unaware of what’s going on.

Gerardo Parra capped the scoring for the Rockies in the top of the eighth with a fence-clearing two-run shot off of Mets reliever Neil Ramirez.

Of the four relievers that the Mets called upon—Ramirez, Erik Goeddel, Fernando Salas and Chasen Bradford—only Goeddel managed to keep the Rockies off the scoreboard, tossing two perfect innings with three strikeouts. Ramirez, Salas, and Bradford each allowed two earned runs a piece.

The Mets will look to get back on track Monday as they welcome the St. Louis Cardinals into Citi Field for a four-game series. Zach Wheeler (3-6, 4.96 ERA) will get the ball for the Mets, while Adam Wainwright (10-5, 5.20 ERA) will toe the rubber for the Cardinals.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET.
