The New York Knicks reportedly stalled trade talks surrounding Carmelo Anthony, in hopes of convincing him to stay. Despite the gesture, Anthony is ready to move on.

The New York Knicks have made their desire to rid of Carmelo Anthony well-known across the league. Until the hiring of new General Manager Scott Perry that is, when trade talks were stalled completely.

Perry is looking to make an effort at reconnecting with Anthony, who was shunned publicly under the regime of ex-President of Operations Phil Jackson.

However, Saturday evening, Adrian Wojnarowksi of ESPN reported that Anthony remains content on leaving his home for the last seven seasons.

Although he originally approved trades to both Cleveland and Houston, in recent weeks Anthony has prioritized Houston above joining friend LeBron James on the Cavaliers.

With the effort it took to convince Anthony to leave, it’s hard to imagine the process behind persuading him of the opposite. Ian Begley of ESPN New York reported earlier this week, “Anthony was ready for Houston.”

Wojnarowski also reports that the Portland Trailblazers, once thought of as a third team to help facilitate a Carmelo Anthony-Rockets marriage, have withdrawn interest.

For Portland to take part in a trade surrounding Anthony, it would reportedly require him waiving his no-trade-clause to join the Trailblazers. With no intentions of aiding a Western Conference rival, it’s unlikely they will take any part in moving Carmelo.

Nonetheless, Houston remains focused on a deal for Anthony, who they believe is determined on playing solely for the Rockets next season.
