According to ESPN, the New York Knicks met with Sacramento Kings VP Scott Perry about the vacant general manager position.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski and Ian Begley of ESPN, the Knicks met with Sacramento Kings VP/Assistant GM Scott Perry about the general manager job.

The team and Perry were “discussing deal parameters” to make him the new GM. New York needed to get permission from the Kings to talk to Perry.

Before being a part of the Kings, Perry was a part of the SuperSonics front office when they drafted Kevin Durant, he was a part of the Pistons front office (’08-’12), then the Magic before ending up in Sacramento.

Begley points out that it’s a show of good will from the Kings to allow Perry to seek a promotion elsewhere.

When the talks with former Cavs GM David Griffin fell through, New York talk some criticism. They’ll want to bounce back and hire someone quickly. Most people assumed they’d promote from within.

As it turns out, that might not be the case.

So there’s more Knicks news that isn’t about Carmelo Anthony being traded. We’ll keep you updated for when if and when Melo’s dealt.
