The New York Knicks are still interested in acquiring veteran point guard Rajon Rondo, and he feels the same way.

The New York Knicks don’t have a lot of money to spend after Tim Hardaway Jr.’s monster deal, but whatever’s left will likely go towards a veteran point guard. According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, one player they still have in mind is Rajon Rondo.

Per Begley, “New York has less than $2 million in cap space and a $4.3 million exception to offer free agents.” It’s hard to imagine why Rondo would want to come to New York when he could get significantly more money somewhere else.

The Knicks would need to create cap space to make the situation more appealing for Rondo. They can only do that via trade. Begley states that this is a possibility. Courtney Lee and Carmelo Anthony are the logical choices.

Derrick Rose is still in play for New York too. After meeting with the Milwaukee Bucks we haven’t heard much from that side. The Los Angeles Clippers are presumably out after signing international star Milos Teodosic.
