According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Houston Rockets are in “hot pursuit” of New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony.

The Houston Rockets just locked up superstar James Harden on the richest contract extension in NBA history through 2022-23, but they’re not done making moves this summer. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Houston is in “hot pursuit” of New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony.

Anthony has agreed to waive his no-trade clause for a reunion with former Knicks and current Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni. It didn’t end well between the two of them, so that’s been kind of a surprise.

The idea of playing with point guard Chris Paul is less of a surprise. The two are close friends.

What’s unknown is how Carmelo Anthony fits into Houston’s fastbreak attack. The Rockets like to run and gun all game long. Anthony was resistant to that idea when he was in his prime in New York.

It’s hard to believe it would work now, but we know Anthony wants out of the Big Apple now. He’s willing to waive his no-trade clause to two teams (Cleveland and Houston), and Houston wants him.
