Elite Sports NY Actually, You're Wrong! Podcast 4

On the second episode of The Borough Basketball Podcast, Samuel, Robbie and Zach discussed Phil Jackson, Otto Porter and free agency.

A lot has happened since our trio last got together. Phil Jackson got fired, Otto Porter was presented with a max offer sheet and both the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets had been quiet to start free agency.

Robbie and Zach touched on potential replacements for Jackson, such as former Cleveland Cavaliers GM David Griffin and former 76ers executive Sam Hinkie. Oklahoma City’s Sam Presti and Toronto’s Masai Ujiri also got thrown around.

Next, the trio talked about Brooklyn’s huge offer to Porter and if it was a bad idea for them not to make any other significant moves. As Washington takes the time to match their offer, the Nets cap is frozen and they won’t have as much leeway.

Additionally, other potential free agents were analyzed. Jonathon Simmons and Shabazz Muhammad came up, and they’re some guys who would be solid consolations if the Nets missed on Porter. Sticking with free agency, the Knicks have been about as active as Brooklyn and haven’t done anything to address their point guard spot.

Maybe Derrick Rose comes back; if not, Shelvin Mack and Rajon Rondo could be nice backups.

Lastly, the trio touched on the deals for Paul George, Chris Paul and Gordon Hayward, and how those can potentially alter both conferences.

Be sure to join the trio each week to hear the latest about your Knicks and Nets. Also, be sure to follow Sam, Robbie and Zach on Twitter.
