After showcasing an ability to hit from long-range and block shots in the paint, the New York Knicks signed center Luke Kornet to a Two-Way contract.

While inking a starting point guard and shipping off Carmelo Anthony are top priorities for the New York Knicks, they’ve made some smaller transactions in the meantime.

On Monday afternoon, the Knicks announced on their Twitter PR account, that they’d signed forward/center Luke Kornet to a Two-Way contact.

By coming to terms on a Two-Way contract, Kornet’s salary will be based upon some games he plays in the NBA for the Knicks and their D-League affiliate (Westchester Knicks).

In his last two years at Vanderbilt, Kornet showcased an ability to be a shot-blocking presence.

Averaging a combined 2.5 blocks per game in his junior and senior year, Kornet came into his own as a defensive force. Kornet though has also shown off his ability to hit from long-range.

In their first two summer league affairs, Kornet shot 44.4% from beyond the arc for the Knicks.

Playing time though will be difficult to garner for the four-year big man.

With Kristaps Porzingis, Willy Hernangomez, Kyle O’Quinn, Joakim Noah and Marshall Plumlee all under contract for this upcoming year, Kornet will struggle to find playing time, barring injury.
