Free agency continues to roll on for the New York Knicks as do the Carmelo Anthony trade rumors, while Derrick Rose meets with the Bucks.
Carmelo Anthony has finally had it. He is reportedly willing to waive his no-trade clause. Just one day after members of New York Knicks management were caught laughing at Anthony’s workout videos on social media, the bomb dropped.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Melo is willing to waive his no-trade clause to two different teams: the Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers.
A reunion with Mike D’Antoni seems likely it would be far less appealing for Anthony than playing with LeBron James in Cleveland. However, after the Rockets added Chris Paul, they joined Anthony’s preferred list of teams.
Per Ian Begley, Paul made the point last month that he wants to play with Anthony. New York discussed a trade with the Clippers, but it was contingent on Melo re-signing with the team.
With Chris Paul playing in Houston now, that seems highly unlikely. However, so did a Mike D’Antoni reunion before the Houston trade rumors started.
Woj provided an update on the free agency situation of former Knicks point guard Derrick Rose.
The former MVP is meeting with the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday. The Bucks have issues with point guard depth.
Ian Begley reports that the Knicks front office is split on whether or not to bring Rose back.
New York is considering a sign-and-trade as well. With Milwaukee seemingly desperate to trade Greg Monroe, he could be an option.
