In addition to pursuing a point guard, the Knicks are reportedly targeting a free agent shooting guard as well – Dion Waiters.

While they’re on the hunt for a new starting point guard, the New York Knicks are now working on adding a two-guard as well.

According to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald, the Knicks have been in talks with Miami Heat shooting guard Dion Waiters.

Last year, Waiters broke to have an impressive 2016-17 campaign.

Averaging 15.8 points per game, while shooting a career-high 39.5% from beyond the arc, Waiters had arguably the best year of his career, in regards to his offensive production. The one knock on Waiters’ play from last year though, was the number of games he missed.

Missing 36 games via injury, Waiters was still very productive, but not throughout the duration of a full NBA season.

If the Knicks are to going to sign Waiters, they’ll likely have to make cap space.

Coming off a productive year (for the amount he did play), Waiters will be looking to cash in. For the Knicks to accommodate his wishes, they’d have to trade away shooting guard Courtney Lee or potentially Carmelo Anthony.

Waiters will turn 26 in December.
