After an impressive 2016-17 campaign, the New York Knicks have “strong interest” in re-signing shooting guard Justin Holiday.

Outside of retaining Ron Baker to a two-year deal, the Knicks were quiet on day one of free agency. However, they’re looking to make some maneuvers on day two finally – one being re-signing shooting guard Justin Holiday.

According to ESPN New York’s Ian Begley, New York has strong interest in re-signing Holiday.

Last year, Holiday was a pleasant surprise in New York, as a three-and-D player.

Coming over in a trade that netted them, Derrick Rose, Holiday made an unexpected impact on defense.

Playing tightly contested on-ball defense, to go along with defending the perimeter at ease, Holiday was an asset on that side of the ball.

On the other end of the floor, Holiday averaged 7.7 points per game, while shooting 43.3 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from three-point range.

New York was hoping to use Justin to convince his brother Jrue to join him in New York, but that ship has sailed. Jrue re-upped with the Pelicans on a five-year, $126 million deal.

Justin’s current asking price, as well as what amount the Knicks are willing to fork over to retain his services are unknown.

We’ll keep you updated on what happens with Holiday as free agency continues.
