Ron Baker got free agency started off for the New York Knicks when he tweeted out that he’d be returning next season.

Ron “Burgundy” Baker is coming back.

The reserve point guard who became a fan favorite with the Knicks in 2016-17 announced via his Twitter that he’ll be returning to New York next season.

This is great news for the Knicks. Not surprising at all, but still great news. Baker’s a favorite of head coach Jeff Hornacek and even started 13 games.

His stats don’t jump off the page but he did a lot of little things. Coming into the league as an undrafted free agent, Baker wasn’t even expected to be on the roster.

It’s good to have Baker back, but the Knicks aren’t close to done. They need to find a starting point guard to put in front of Baker and first-round pick Frank Ntilikina.

Baker averaged 16.5 minutes, 4.1 points, 2.1 assists, 1.9 rebounds, and 0.7 steals on a slash line of .378/.267/.651.
