On this edition of the New York Mets Amazin’ News, we discuss Asdrubal Cabrera, Jose Reyes and Amed Rosario heading for the MLB Futures Game.

Amed Rosario and Tomas Nido, two prospects in the Mets organization have been named to the 2017 All-Star Futures Game. The game will be played where the Mets are playing tonight, at Marlins Park.

Rosario, MLB.com’s third highest ranked prospect will participate in the game for the second straight year.

Through 76 games with Triple-A Las Vegas, the 21-year-old is hitting well over .300, has seven home runs, 49 RBIs and 13 steals.

Nido, who is listed as the ninth best prospect in the Mets organization, has been hitting well for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies in Double-A. Through 54 games, Nido has blasted five long balls and 33 RBI.

There will be familiar faces to Mets fans on the coaching staffs. Former second baseman Luis Castillo will be the bench coach while former Mets starter Livan Hernandez will be the pitching coach for the Future’s Game World Team.

Former Mets Cliff Floyd and Al Leiter will be on Team USA’s coaching staff in the All-Star Futures Game while former Mets Manager Jerry Manuel will be the bench coach.

Jose Reyes went 3-4 last night, raised his average to .202 on the season, and is closing in on an illustrious Mets record. Reyes moved into second on the Mets’ all-time hits list with 1,420. Reyes moved passed Ed Kranepool, but is still chasing David Wright’s record of 1,777 hits.

Last week, after being asked to play second base on short notice, Asdrubal Cabrera wanted out of New York. Fast forward less than a week, and there seems to have been a complete change in heart for the infielder.

Earlier today, ESPN reported that Cabrera backed off his original trade demands. Since then, Cabrera has played a mixture of second base and shortstop and has seen his offense take off.

The Mets have won five of their last six games and Cabrera has raised his average from .253 to .269.
