Undrafted rookie Scott Eansor scored a brilliant goal for his squad at the New York Islanders annual Blue and White Scrimmage.
Before a sellout crowd at Northwell Health Ice Center in East Meadow, the New York Islanders top prospects and recent draft picks put on a show for their loyal fans.
But while the event featured Joshua Ho-Sang, Anthony Beauvillier, Michael Dal Colle and Mathew Barzal, it was an undrafted free agent who stole the show with a brilliant goal.
Scott Eansor, 21, spent the 2016-17 season with Seattle of the WHL. Hailing from Troy, Michigan, he netted 18 goals and 20 assists (38 points) over 40 games for the Thunderbirds, and along with his teammate Barzal, he went to the Memorial Cup.
His spin-o-rama was courtesy of some poor defense, but also some absurd dekes. He later notched another goal, and although this one wasn’t as nice as the first, it was still an impressive display of skating technique.
Meanwhile, 2015 7th round pick Peter Hansson won the hardest shot competition with a 99 mph blast. The 6-foot-2, 187-pound Swedish defenseman played for Linkoping of the SHL, where he notched 1 helper in 22 games.
Oh… and last thing. Joshua Ho-Sang, who had these so-called “maturity problems” when he was drafted, is an utter delight, both on- and off-the-ice. When he wasn’t signing autographs for nearly everyone in attendance, he was putting his team on the board with some fantastic dangles.
