According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, the Knicks weren’t interested in a trade proposal from the Houston Rockets for Carmelo Anthony.

With Phil Jackson gone Knick fans assumed Carmelo Anthony would remain in New York. While this is still likely, it is no guarantee, as evident by a report from ESPN’s Ian Begley.

Per Begley, the Knicks declined a proposed deal for Anthony involving Houston’s Ryan Anderson.

Houston has been shopping Anderson recently, and Anthony has made it known that he would waive his no-trade clause to play in Houston with James Harden and newly acquired Chris Paul.

This fit surprises many, but not quite because of basketball reasons. Anthony has made it clear he wants to remain close to his son Kiyan.

Additionally, Anthony has a long history with Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni. Anthony played for D’Antoni in New York, and his contempt for D’Antoni was reportedly one of the main reasons D’Antoni was fired in New York.
