The New York Rangers made a big splash trading Derek Stepan and Antti Raanta to Arizona setting themselves up with two picks in the NHL Draft.

The New York Rangers started NHL Draft day with a big splashDerek Stepan, and Antti Raanta were traded to the Arizona Coyotes for the seventh overall pick in the 2017 NHL entry level draft and young offensively talented defenseman Anthony DeAngelo. It goes without saying that all Rangers fans wish Stepan and Raanta all the best in Arizona. The hard work and dedication given to New York over the several seasons will not be soon forgotten. Big shout out to Antti Raanta who is capable and will thrive in his new starting goaltending position with the Coyotes. Go get em’ Antti!

NHL Entry Draft Notes

There was speculation that the New York Rangers would use their first round picks to trade up in the NHL draft or acquire a top notch center or first pair D-man. The draft has come and come and both picks were used in order to bolster the farm system.
