The NBA offseason has commenced, and the rumors are swirling. The Brooklyn Nets were reportedly targeting small forward Kentavious Caldwell Pope.

The Brooklyn Nets will be looking to add some guaranteed scoring this offseason, after trading away leading scorer Brook Lopez. Caldwell-Pope was reportedly a top target, but that may be subject to change.

The NBA announced on Friday that the Detroit Pistons small forward has been suspended two games. This suspension is the result a March arrest when he was suspected of driving under the influence.

He would end up pleading to a lesser charge, allowing a person to drive under the influence. Nonetheless, the NBA has reprimanded such actions. This is the second Pistons player suspended this summer. He joins small forward Reggie Bullock, who has been suspended five games for violating the anti-drug policy.

It’s not the best news for Caldwell-Pope, who’s coming off a career-season. Whether teams will lose interest in the restricted free agent is up in the air. If they do or not, may prove irrelevant.

The Detroit Pistons are reportedly ready to match any offer sheet the small forward receives. However, in light of this suspension, they may take another look at their options. Especially with this being the second roster suspension this month.

Through 76 games last season, Caldwell-Pope averaged 13.8 points while shooting a career-high 35 percent from three-point land. His suspension will be served the first two games of the 2017-2018 regular season.
