The Lakers reportedly aren’t sold on Lonzo Ball. Could the New York Knicks benefit from this surprising development?

Lonzo Ball to the Los Angeles Lakers seemed like a lock after Magic Johnson’s squad won the second pick in the draft lottery. New York Knicks fans assumed the Lonzo show was out of their reach. Hold on a minute.

According to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, the Lakers aren’t sold on Ball’s star status. Then there’s the Lavar factor.

The Knicks could benefit from the Lakers indecisiveness. After Los Angeles, Philly picks No. 3. They plan on playing last season’s No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons at the point guard spot. It’s unlikely they’d go with a lead guard.

Phoenix has Eric Bledsoe at point guard, Sacramento and Orlando would be the only problems. New York will need to depend on Sacramento’s incompetence and Orlando’s need for help at other positions.

It’s a long shot that New York will end up with Ball. It’s more likely we’ll see Dennis Smith Jr. or Frank Ntilikina in a Knicks uniform next season.
