The New York Knicks are reportedly still interested in trading for Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio.

The name Ricky Rubio has been attached to the New York Knicks a lot this season. The Knicks must like the Minnesota Timberwolves point guard.

They reportedly attempted to trade for him at the trade in a point guard swap for Derrick Rose. As recently as last week, it was reported that the Knicks hadn’t given up on acquiring Rubio.

According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, the team’s interest hasn’t wavered.

Some members of the organization would again like to try to pursue Minnesota’s Ricky Rubio in a trade this offseason, sources said.

Minnesota head coach Tom Thibodeau is interested in bringing in his former point guard, Derrick Rose, for a reunion. Per Begley, the prospective trade was a point guard swap.

After drafting Kris Dunn was selected with the No. 5 pick Rubio seemed like the odd man out. However, Dunn was awful, and Rubio had the best season of his career.

Thibs couldn’t justify sitting him and especially trading him.

With Rose now, an option in free agency Minnesota could be more willing to deal.
