New York Red Bulls youngster Tyler Adams was instrumental in USA’s U-20 World Cup match vs. Senegal on Thursday, May 25.

New York Red Bulls midfield youngster Tyler Adams shined on his second U-20 World Cup match. The strong USA’s U-20 team went on to finish the game 1-0 against Senegal.

Tyler Adams not only contributed a shutout performance, but a cheeky touch that led to the match’s only goal. Adams split two defenders in the 34th minute at the top corner of the 18-yard box. As Adams sent a flick on with the outside of his foot, he found Luca de la Torre within striking range. Luca de la Torre sent a pass across to Sargent who then buried the goal.

Adams also had a few other assist opportunities, one creative pass in the 18-yard box and one ball sent for a breakaway to Sargent, both were saved.

Defensively, Adams helped contribute to a shutout which was well deserved against a fast paced Senegal team. Senegal won their first match against Saudi Arabia two goals to none.

The 18-year-old Adams, while successful with the New York Red Bulls’s first team is making an early impact at the U-20 national team level. This win helped bump Team USA up to first place in their group.
