The New York Knicks caught a break when a prospect they’re apparently interested in, Caleb Swanigan, announced he was remaining in the draft.

Potential New York Knicks target Caleb Swanigan is remaining in the 2017 NBA Draft. The power forward out of Purdue waited until the Wednesday deadline to make the life-altering decision.

Swanigan worked out for the Knicks on Wednesday before making his announcement public via Twitter.

The 20-year-old was named Big Ten Player of the Year and a Consensus All-American. On a per-40 minute basis, he averaged 22.7 points, 15.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.0 blocks on a slash line of .527/.447/.781.

His father thinks that type of success will continue at the next level.

Roosevelt Barnes calls his son “the best player in the draft” and says that if some team were to “give him 25 minutes per game next season, he’ll lead the league in rebounding.”

The Knicks hope that Swanigan will still be available when they pick No. 44 in the second round. As of now, DraftExpress has him going at No. 40 and NBADraft.net at No. 36.
