The New York Knicks reportedly plan to work out Purdue sophomore big man Caleb Swanigan in the upcoming week.

The latest planned workout for the New York Knicks is Purdue sophomore big man Caleb Swanigan. According to ZagsBlog.com, Swanigan will work out for the team on Wednesday.

Per ZagsBlog, the 20-year-old is testing the NBA Draft waters without an agent, and Wednesday is the last day underclassmen can work out for NBA teams before the deadline for returning to school with eligibility.

The Knicks are likely to take note of Swanigan’s extraordinary college career. He’s the reigning Big Ten Player of the Year and a Consensus First-Team All-American who led the Big Ten in rebounds and points produced.

Swanigan wasn’t just a beast on the boards, though. He might be undersized (6-foot-8), but the jump shot he’s developed has helped negate that impact. The former McDonald’s All-American made 38 of 85 attempts from three-point range (.447).

In DraftExpress’ latest mock draft, they have Swanigan going at No. 40 by the New Orleans Pelicans. The Knicks have two second-round picks (44, 58).
