New York Knicks president Phil Jackson is confident about the draft despite his team falling to the No. 8 pick in the lottery.

Phil Jackson isn’t worried about the New York Knicks chances in the NBA Draft lottery. Despite New York slipping one spot to the No. 8 pick, Jackson tells ESPN’s Ian Begley things could be worse.

“Our opportunity [at] seven could have been 10, so eight we’ll live with,” Jackson said. “I think that we’re good at what we do.”

The Zen Master thinks his staff is good at what they do. He must mean the draft because that’s the only positive on that atrocious resume and there’s only one pick that was a hit: Kristaps Porzingis. Although it was a home run.

Jackson is trying something new. The Knicks president is showing his face in public. Last week he was at the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago before attending the lottery on Tuesday. While in Chicago, Jackson took time out to reaffirm his stance on Carmelo Anthony.

Watching the Knicks pick lower in the top-ten will be interesting. The team will be looking at point guards to pair with Porzingis. Dennis Smith Jr. and Frank Ntilikina are the two likely choices.

Unless Jackson decides he wants to keep Derrick Rose. Then he could go with a wing like Jonathan Isaac or Justin Jackson.
