After a tumultuous NBA season, they hoped having the legendary former player at the lottery would bring them luck.
While the Knicks are now almost certainly going to miss out on prospects Markelle Fultz, Josh Jackson, and Lonzo Ball, they will have options at eight.
With the eighth pick, the Knicks will be in the running for at least one young guard. Some of these guards include De’Aaron Fox, Frank Ntilikina, Dennis Smith, and possibly Malik Monk.
Forwards Jayson Tatum, Jonathon Isaac, and Lauri Markkanen could also be in the mix for New York at seven.
For the Knicks, this is yet another blow in yet another tumultuous season for New York.
The Knicks finished the 2016-17 NBA season with a record of 31-51, third worst in the East and tied for the seventh-worst record in the NBA.
