The New York Red Bulls will need to extend their strong form at home this weekend in order to protect their place in the top six.

After two disappointing defeats, away to Kansas and Philadelphia, the New York Red Bulls will return to the Red Bull Arena for the first of three consecutive home fixtures when they clash with the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday.

After their awful run of away results continued over the past week, the Red Bulls’ place in the playoff positions is vulnerable, as despite their five-point lead over seventh placed Atlanta United, they have played two matches more and could fall behind should the expansion side win their matches in hand.

However, their home impressive form will reassure Jesse Marsch that his side can get back on track this weekend. The Harrison-based club have conceded one goal in five home matches this season as they have claimed victories in four matches to earn thirteen points out of a possible fifteen.

Meanwhile, their visitors’ poor record on the road will further the home side’s status as favorites as the Galaxy have won just once in three away matches.

Goalkeeper Luis Robles urged his side to produce a strong effort at the Red Bull Arena on Sunday.

“We know that if we don’t come with the right sort of mentality and effort, it doesn’t matter where we’re playing, their going to give us a hard time,” Robles said.

The two clubs shared the points in a 2-2 draw in Los Angeles when they last met.
