ESPN’s Ian Begley reports the New York Knicks will meet with projected top pick Markelle Fultz at the draft combine this week in Chicago.

Markelle Fultz was sizing up a couple of potential new employers when he showed up at Madison Square Garden back in April for a meaningless contest between the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers. The projected No. 1 pick made headlines when he told reporters he felt he could play in the triangle offense.

Knicks fans were enamored with the pipe dream that was Markelle Fultz, and who could blame them? It seems like the front office feels the same way.

According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, the Knicks are scheduled to meet with Fultz during the NBA Draft Combine taking place this week in Chicago.

Fellow point guard prospect and Knicks target De’Aaron Fox is also at the combine. It’s noteworthy that these two are in Chicago when many of the top guys chose to skip this week.

Lonzo Ball, Jayson Tatum, Josh Jackson, Dennis Smith, and Malik Monk all decided not to attend.

ESPN’s Jeff Goodman reports that Fultz will also interview with Boston, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Sacramento, and Philadelphia.

It’s encouraging that the Knicks are taking the time out to meet with the best prospect in the draft, but as Begley points out, the odds of the team having a shot at Fultz are very unlikely.
