Matt Holliday‘s long home run to center on Wednesday not only cut the New York Yankees deficit but it served as a monumental homer for the veteran.

With the New York Yankees trailing after a four spot by the Toronto Blue Jays in the bottom of the first inning, Matt Holliday changed things in historic fashion.

Facing right-hander Marcus Stroman, the 37-year old, who was sitting on 299 career home runs, put a charge on a 93.9 mph and by the time it landed into Monument Park, Holliday had joined the 300 home run club with a 446-foot shot.

With that blast, Holliday joined Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera as the only active major leaguers with at least 300 career home runs and a career batting average of .300. He’s also now the 22nd hitter in history to hit 300 career homers, own a batting average of .300 and hit 400 or more doubles.
