New York Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge is off to an impressive start, but how historic actually is this tremendous showing?

The New York Yankees have been rolling as of late and much of that can be accredited to 6-foot-7 slugger Aaron Judge, who has been off to an historic start.

To begin the 2017 season, Judge is currently slashing .313/.424/.795 with 12 home runs and 25 RBI’s in just 24 games this far. He has shattered every expectation set for him before the season began.

Just how historic is this rapturous start to the season? Let’s take a look:

When examining the most home runs in Yankees history through the first 25 games of the season there are three names listed, Alex Rodriguez, Babe Ruth and Aaron Judge.

Rodriguez leads the bunch with 14 longballs and then Ruth and Judge do not trail too far behind with 12 each. It should also be noted that Ruth and Rodriguez both finished the season with 50-plus home runs and Rodriguez with an MVP award.

Not to mention, both of these men pulled off this miraculous power surge while they were well into their careers, Aaron Judge is still just a rookie.

A rookie who struggled following his debut in 2016 and made adjustments during the offseason in order to help himself improve and paid off in tremendous fashion.

The 25-year-old is just the second player in MLB history 25 or younger with at least 12 home runs and 25 RBI’s within the first 25 games of the season. The only other player to do so was Eric Davis in 1987, who would go on to have a solid career.

It is unbelievable how Judge went from battling in spring training for a roster spot to being one of the top players in all of baseball in just a short month’s time.

He has taken advantage of the opportunity provided to him after his solid spring training and ran with it. The right-handed slugger has turned into a must-see at-bat which leaves fans to stop watching their own team to just tune into the Yankees and see how far he hits the ball this time.

The last time we saw a rookie have this sort of impact on the Yankees was a few short months ago when Gary Sanchez took the baseball world by storm much like Judge has recently done.

Speaking of Sanchez, he is just four home runs ahead of Judge when it comes to the most home runs by a Yankees hitter through their first 51 career games. Judge is tied with Kevin Maas with 16 home runs for second place on the illustrious list.

The Yankees have found something special with their first round pick in the 2013 MLB Draft, who would have thought they would be drafting a player who looks like the star player the Yankees have been looking for since Derek Jeter retired?

With this spectacular start, Judge has solidified himself as not only one of the most feared rookies currently in baseball, but in the sport’s entire history as well.
