Now that Mike Maccagnan has drafted Jamal Adams and eight other youngsters, New York Jets owner Woody Johnson is embracing things.

What else is he going to do, go on an expletive rant about the way his general manager conducted business during the 2017 NFL Draft?

Of course, New York Jets owner Woody Johnson is embracing his organization’s youth movement and he’s telling everybody he can, especially over the airwaves on ESPN Radio 1050 AM, the radio home of the Jets.

“Really, the way I want to be judged, hopefully from the fans’ standpoint, is just watch how we improve during the year,” Johnson said Tuesday on the Hahn, Humpty & Canty Show on ESPN New York 98.7 FM during a charity event in Manhattan. “Look at each individual on the team, and if they’re getting better, that’s a mark of progress. That’s what we’re looking for.”

After Mikey Mac’s failed “aggressive rebuild” two summers ago, this was the only obvious course of action.

“If you want to go to the promised land, you have to go in a certain direction,” he said. “I think this is a direction we’ve never tried in the 17 years I’ve been associated with the Jets. We’ve never gone this way.”

In other news, the Jets formerly declined the fifth-year option on safety Calvin Pryor.
